The WellCare Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides free integrated healthcare to working single moms and their children in need. The single moms that benefit from this organization earn too much money to qualify for government assistance, but not enough to afford healthcare benefits for themselves and/or their children.
Xperience Dance instructor Jacki Semerau is co-chair of the marketing committee for WellCare, and has been highly involved with the organization for the past 2 years. A former WellCare Mom herself, this charity is one that remains close to Jacki's heart.
So when the event committee co-chairs for WellCare's fundraiser Showtime approached Jacki to provide entertainment for the opening act, Jacki knew exactly who to choose...the Xperience Dancers!
Beginning in September, the dancers began learning the street jazz routine they would be performing at the fundraiser.
When considering what song would tell the story of WellCare Foundation, Jacki had the perfect choice: Give Me Your Eyes by Brandon Heath. "Marge Ebeling, Founder of WellCare, is someone who opened her eyes to a group of women who often have no voice or influence; single moms who work and flourish to the best of their abilities. Marge started the WellCare Foundation because she recognized her high calling, and acted passionately upon it. The dancers had the opportunity to stand beside her and help her share her message by using their talent at the benefit."
The kids did a fantastic job! Their dance helped encourage the event attendees to support Marge and the WellCare Foundation. Stay tuned for the next entry on this blog...we'll be posting the video of their performance!
